Did anyone watch it last night?

I found it very interesting.

WHen Maggie Thatcher first came in to power, I was too young to know about it - when she left 'power' I was also not at an age where I was really into politics..

I wonder how accurate the programme was - I felt great empathy for her, although if it was accurate, she was a complete bi**h, but I guess in a mans world, you would have to be..

All in all very interesting, I saw our loveable non dancing teddy bear made an appearance!

Watched it this afternoon on catchup t.v....

Maggie came into power when I was in my teens, the Welsh hated her...Still do.

In truth I have always admired and liked her, maybe not some of her policies. But she always stuck to her guns...Shame to see such a powerful woman reduced to a frail old lady today,I'm not 100% sure but I think she suffers from Dementia

She does suffer from dementia, Yvonne - and I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
I thought the play was excellent and Lindsay Duncan outstanding in a stellar cast.
I'm not sure how I feel about her, she brought the North-East to its knees and
all of our traditional industries seemed to disappear overnight - mining, steel working, shipbuilding - but on a personal level, her Government's reorganisation of nurses' pay doubled my salary at a time when I was desperate.

I didn't watch the programme, however as one who lived through her time in power, some of the changes she brought about had a positive effect, however the cost to some peoples lives was emence. Perhaps one thing I learned was just how fragile our society is, in the west country all the dispossed came in convoys, as they had nowhere else to go & no jobs to keep themselves alive.

The social unrest was very scary & was possibly her downfall

Yes I watched it and it made me uncomfortable as I gave her my first ever electoral vote. How I regretted that.

I am almost certain of it Chris-I remember Carwol Thatcher after she had won 'I'm a Celebrity..........being asked by an interviewer on a t.v programme, what her mother thought of her time in the jungle,to which she replied that she didn't know she had been there and come home. And that she was off to see her that afternoon. The word dementia was said as well, but I took no notice of it and probably went off to do something else.

I will have to 'google' her and find out.

Yes, watched it and I remember the whole of her time in power and quite a number of the incidents and politicians. There have been 3 or 4 programmes about Mrs T this last week. I enjoyed the drama enormously and it was very well done in my view. As to Maggie herself I admired her greatly and thought she was badly treated in the end. She was lucky though to have a wealthy husband who could indulge and support her in her chosen career and she could have nannies, cleaners and a dresser to help her through it all. I am sad that she is unwell now and her keen brain is dulled by dementia. She is also so very alone without Denis who was a fair bit older than her.

I saw some of it and I am in no doubt that she was and had to be a very strong woman but like the Welsh, the Scots hated her and still do. She destroyed so many industries and used us up here as labs rats testing out her policies taking inflation up to 13 % and landing us with the poll tax a year in advance of the rest of the country.
At the time I had a small flat and a mortgage of £27000(tiny in todays terms) but my payments were up to neary £300 a month(massive at the time). The country was crippled and there were constant demostrations .
