Its a bit far for me :happydance:

Have you been to an FB show before Maggie?

Yes I am going with my daughter I am not showing though.

I have been to 1 FB show, it was the same one that Anna went to in Leigh, and really enjoyed it.

You take your cats to the judging and sit with them on your knee as you do at TICA. Its great being able to handle your own cats.

No - and I'm taking a cat for the first time, too.

Forgot to say I do not look a bit like my Avatar. I am a blond but my hair is short.

You might recognise my daughter is the one with the horse Naz that I posted last week.

oooh - what made you want to show FB??

Well, wanted to try showing and have no prejudices one way or the other except that I wanted to take Gomez out before he got too old to be tolerant of new experiences (he's 7 months old now) and wanted the journey time to be not too bad. I have seen reports on here from all the various FIFE/TICA/GCCF things and thought that something where he didn't have to sit in a small pen on his own for hours would be a good place to start. Also the FIFE/FB people seem comparatively relaxed and encouraging.

If it doesn't work out and he hates it then I just won't take him again .......

Maggie, I hope you have a great time, he is a gorgeous boy, they should love him :D

Well, I hope so - Thanks, Leah. Just hope he has a relaxed time really.

To be fair, I think FB is a better place to start. GCCF you have to leave him so have no idea how he is, plus if after one judge he is unhappy, no one would withdraw him.
Tica is very busy and some cats find it all too much.
Good luck!

I'll be lucky if I get both of us through the door and we manage to get to the right places in time. Happy to try but have no idea what I'm doing. Please PM me with instructions if you want me to do something!

any news?

Hi, sorry - bit late and excited. Was totally baffled for most of the day and kept having to ask the very helpful Show Management people what on earth things meant. Lovely people next to us were so helpful and nice - I am sure we wouldn't have been in the right place doing the right thing without them.

Gomez won his class, won his nomination for BIS, won his BIS Junior and had 1 out of 4 votes for BIS shorthair (and I had his carrier ready to take him back to his pen when he was on his podium being judged for Junior ..... amazed). He has three rosettes, a cup and a certificate so I think with the lovely critique he had we may well be showing again.

I am delighted. He was a bit nervy at the beginning of the day (it was both of our first show) but was strutting his stuff like a pro by the end. He has been such a good boy and he got a lovely critique - I am proud of him and he is currently causing havoc with everyone else in the house as he hasn't done any running around at all today .........

All in all, thrilled.

I am afraid the pics are rubbish (because the camera is rubbish and I was too excited to beat it into submission) but here they are:

What am I doing here?

What? I won a prize you can't eat?

That's enough now - can we go home?

I have just spent ages resizing all the pics to a sensible size, but for some reason they are still huge. Hopefully photobucket will catch up soon.

I did nothing apart from plague poor show management people with endless questions. Gomez did the rest himself.

Thank you all so much!
