What a fabulous friendly show....Anna & I had a great time, we took Ramases and what a enjoyable day we had.

It started off with an assessment for R as shaded Oriental is not a pattern with FB...so after seeing 2 judges we decided on a Mackerel Tabby.

He entered the CAP ( like a PC open class) lovely Swedish judge who wrote..

Type…Excellent in proportion, so harmonic boy

Head..Ecellent shape, nice wedge, excellent profile, so much expression

Eyes…Excellent shape & colour

Ears,,,Excellent big ears, excellent placement

Coat…Excellent qualities, excellent type markings

Tail…Long whipped

Condition..Excellent..excllently presented.

He then asked me to stay and awarded him a nomination for BOV neuter...R then made it down to the last 2, eventually the cream boy was awarded the BOV....I was so proud of R he had impeccable manners and showed himself off a treat...I loved the fact that you handled & showed your own cat off which was great fun.

Then we did 2 side classes best neuter which is all breeds & HP's and again you showed them off, R was awarded 2nd.

Then we saw the French judge who kissed R  then awarded him Best Exhibitor ( ie not bred by exhibitor) again all the breeds where judged in one class, it was so exciting...I am definitely off to another have not had so much fun and entertainment at a cat show in years.

I also went to the Viking Show for the very 1st time but it won't be my last, I loved every minute of it.

It was lovely to see Anna and Sue. Well done Ramases & Sue. :wowspring:

OH sister took Foxypaws Fireside Ruby, (from the litter I had last year , Honey's sister). Her critique was fab.

She went through to become BIS Oriental Female Neuter and was awarded a lovely Cup, rosette and cat Play House.

Mangos brother is the SPITTING image of Mango. completely bizarre, they are like doubles! He did really well aswell, won loads of stuff...

I didnt think this style of show would work, but its great, I have zillions of piccies but Im going to go to bed now and will do them tomorrow!

Sarah - Carol Walker was there with her 2 curlies.. I got piccies!!

Carol had a FAB day with her HPs and I got some lovely pics of her just as she won her awards in side classes with them against pedigrees!!

Sounds great fun although not sure about going myself as Carol says curlies are unrecognised breed and there were only her two and a LaPerm? ...... and it's really hard to get recognised? perhaps when we have conquered the GCCF progression I might have to have a bash :iconbigg:

Well done everyone!

I suppose there is an element of what you want from showing, if its to have fun and show off your cats.. this is the place to go!

Oh absolutely! and definitely will have a go - at the moment though as a committee member all my efforts have to go into the GCCF for now........

I typed nearly 60 pages of Open class critiques this week :holysheep:

I've had a look at the show for next year and will definitely have a go :clapper:

Definately worth a lookey see.. I have to say that I think once someone shows FB, they would definately go back..

The whole show is so different, warm and friendly and there is a commaradary amongst the exhibitors that you dont see at a gccf show....

I was surprised as I wasnt expecting to like it..

Its a great sight to see exhibitors sat in front of the judges with cats on their knees!!

It does sound fun :iconbigg:

Re the camaradie thing though I think in all shows you will find "bitchy" groups and "friendly" groups ... unfortunately competition brings out the worst in some people. I like the idea of sitting with my cat on my knee though :yay:although Mister F is so nosey he'd be off on a mission :runforthehills:

I will have to find a local one and have a go :yay:

You can sit on a chair in front of you pen as well that is great too, and you can have a double pen. Its a long day at GCCF shows when you have to stand up all the time. I also found that the people running the show were very helpful, nothing seemed too much trouble for them.

Will go again.

Well done everyone, sounds really interesting. Not may Tica shows, if any this far north as far as i'm aware.

the other fab things are being allowed to have ALL your cats in one double pen together and if the judge thinks your cat is the wrong colour, they change it there and then..

So you dont waste £30 on show entries or on the extra fiver GCCF wants for changing them over to the new colour.... The other thing was that the judges checked with all other judges before changing the colour over...

Its is very Common Sense Cat Showing...

It is what it is...

I saw a cat yesterday that the GCCF said cannot be a tabby because of the mating - it clearly is a tabby anyone that can see would confirm this, but the GCCF says it cant - The FB judges confimred yesterday that it is in fact a tabby and it was awarded its cap... :clapper:

i like that fife and tica recognise mimi as being an ori black whereas the gccf don't :( so silly.

There was one in Gateshead not long ago and I believe one is planned for Scotland.

I like that approach to colour Anna :clapper: I am fortunate to have a breed where the SOP says we cannot be penalised if the colour is apparently wrongly registered - thank goodness really as the long curls can distort the appearance of the shaded, smokes and tippies!

there is a tortie siamese boy that i've seen at a FB show before who has a little note on his pen saying he can't be shown at GCCF as he is not recognised there, which is like my Jerry. Becuase he is a tortie boy the GCCF won't "accept" him (he's reg as a silver tabby). If you're unsure about the coour of your cat you can arrange to have them colour assessed before the show too.

Have you ever been to a TiCA show Anna?

Well done to Rameses and Sue and all of the other winners!
This sounds like fun and my kind of show - I'm livid that I missed the one in Gateshead - I misread the list and thought it said July not June! :(

Does anyone know if I'd be able to show my Leo at a TICA event? The GCCF won't allow me to as they claim that his life-saving surgery to repair a large umbilical hernia he was born with was 'cosmetic'.

Well done, Rameses.

I really like the sound of this (love the pics, too), as am thinking of showing Pubert and it sounds so much less stressful for all concerned.
