Hello everyone,

I found this website after a quick Google search on Siamese cats, my real name is Sam and myself and my girlfriend are looking to provide a loving and caring home for 1 or (preferably) 2 adult house trained Siamese cats.

I live just outside Glasgow and was wondering if anyone has any contacts which deals with re-homing. We should be ready to accept any potential re-homing within 2 - 4 weeks if needed (recently moved into a new apartment and need to shift a few cardboard boxes).

We would be more than willing to travel a reasonable distance to meet / pickup any Siamese requiring a new home.

Many thanks for any contacts/advice in advance,
Sam

Hi Sam and Welcome :)

We have a short list of rescue sites here that it may be worth looking at :) http://www.hubbellbubbell.co.uk/hubbellforum/showthread.php?t=7825

It is also worth taking a look in the Kitty Cats Wanted forum on here. Ask all the questions you want, or browse the forums and you may well find answers to your questions :)

I rescued two adult Siamese - they were the first cats of my own and came to me when they were 9 and 10. It is so incredibly rewarding to see adults blossom and settle, especially when they've had an unsettled history. Of of the two lived till he was over 17.5 years old and was such a beautiful, loving boy ....

Hello - and welcome Sam!

I rehomed my siamese boy Dizzy through Hubbell, he is the light of my life now and a very special boy. I think its fantastic you are looking to give an adult cat a new home :D

Many thanks for the warm welcome and the links :)

I do have 1 question, which I have discussed with my girlfriend is that we would preferably like to have 2 Siamese so that they can keep each other company when we are out of the house, however we are fully aware that it might not be possible to get 2 straight away and we would not want to turn down a single Siamese which needed a home.

Now my my question ... if we were to rescue say 1 Siamese and then a couple of months later get another is there any issues with these breed of cats not liking each other or attacking each other? From the research I've done they do seem extremely socialable with Humans but I can't find much of introducing 2 stranger Siamese. Have any of you had any issues or do the majority of introductions between Siamese go ok? Are there any differences behaviour wise between say the Seal Points and Chocolate Points?

Hi

Having two for company is a great idea :)

I think to be honest you'd be better off getting both at once - an adult will normally quite happily accept a kitten but integrating two strange adults (that may have some issues to resolve through being rehomed) can be tricky.

You often do see two up for rehoming together - it is probably worth phoning rescue organisations and talking things through with them - they may be able to point you in the direction of a welfare office more local to you :)

Hello and welcome to HB!! Glad to hear you're wanting to rehome two together, they will enjoy the company of another around rather than being lonely. I haven't got any cats yet either, moving house this year so hoping to get a couple later in the year! :)

Theres no difference in personalties/behaviour between seal points and choc etc :)

Siamese are very sociable in general, but of course it varies from cat to cat depending on their personalties.

If you take my boy for example - he came from a large cat family but was sadly bullied by 1 cat, he was very nervous because of this and was rehomed with meeee.

I have had Dizzyfor just over a year now, and have worked very hard to get him happy and chilled out. Because of this, i feel he's now ready to have a little friend who is coming to live with us on Saturday :stars:

What i'm saying is, depending on the cat you rehome, they may be happier alone, in which case you will get looooads of extra love and one on one time with him/her or they may be happier with a play mate :D

That was a bit of a ramble...!

You and your partner sound as though you will give a cat or 2 a wonderful home :)

Hi Sam, that's a very difficult quest as it will depend so much on their history. As you want these cats to be happy pets, do try and find out as much as you can about their background, visit at least once, more if you can, and spend time with them to see how confident and sociable they are. Try to find out why they're being homed, and ask as many quests as you can .
If you contact some of those links and discuss what you are hoping for then they should be able to advise you on the cats they have for rehoming and hopefully match you up successfully :)

Excellent thank you all - Right I will try my best to get them as a pair if possible

I've phoned up a few places however the Cat's Protection League and Glasgow Dog & Cat home all seem to close early (3pm ish). I'm also going to contact the Welfare Officer (a Mrs Carrick) on http://www.siamese-scotland.co.uk/ to register my interest and see if I can get the proverbial ball rolling!

I'm really pleased and excited at the prospect of potentially owning such an intelligent, rewarding and beautiful cat! I used to have a job as a gardener/groundsman when I was a teenager and that included feeding 2 seal point females each Saturday morning and I used to get told off for playing with them too much and not mowing the grass!

A warm welcome to Hubbell, and lots of luck with your search. From looking at some of the Siamese rescue adverts in the past, there have just about always been siamese where a pair need to be re homed together because they have always been together. I'm sure with a little patience and searching you will be rewarded.
My first siamese was an 8 year old rescue who lived with me until she was 16.

warm welcome and ps belated but happy hogmannay! ps two adult cats could happily live together but try if you can to have them at the same time or maybe to link one up to the time that you get the other one then introduce them with TLC to each other - good for you thinkingof giving two rescue siams a home they will give you lots of love and happiness!
