Always seems to include

1. A Childrens tv presenter
2. A weather girl
3 . Someone who was in Dr Who once
4. And a member of a boy band I have never heard of

.....and yet....

I am always hooked by the final.
The kids love it too....especially the spectacular mishaps :-)

I might know the footballer, but I never have a clue who most of these so-called celebrities are who infest the reality shows! :catwink:

sunday rag had lots of 'interesting facts' for the show yesterday....ladies go through 220 pairs of false lashes! 65 cans of fake tan will be used....the ice is actually painted to keep it sparkling white!

Oh, God - what a bunch of Z-listers!!
I promised my pals on the dance forum (who all decamp to DOI for the series) that I'd join in this year, but I don't think I can hack it with that shower - especially when you add in Shouty Schofield and the simpering Waxwork Willoughby to the mix! :eeeeek:

First posted on The Blue Room, DOI forum since folks were kind enough to encourage me to take part in this year's shenanigans! :D

'Well, I've never done this on here before, and even though I know nothing about skating, I can't resist having a pop at it!

Brilliant start - I said to the hubba 'Dear me, they all look marvellous this year!", then had the grace to blush when he passed me my specs and pointed out wearily that 'they' were Torville and Dean and a bunch of professional skaters! Oh well! http://www.theblueroom.me.uk/forum/smileys/smiley9.gif

Kristina and the faux-Great British Tennis Hope(circa 2000)
I like her hair, very much. Although 'I got you, babe' had been slowed down to a dirge, I thought the 'dancing on ice' was largely missing. He was very jerky and kept stopping and starting - howled with laughter at the 'Herman Munster' crack as it summed up what I'd been thinking myself. He'll be all right the week they can have a 'prop' - he can bring a tennis racket.

Suzanne out of Hear'Say and Matt.
I liked the colour of the costumes and she certainly could smiiiiile for England. I thought they did exceptionally well to dance sooooooo sloooowly to what is, in essence, a quick tune. At least they danced.

Aggie and Sergei.
Dear God! Appalling song and truly frightening gurning and grinning from the Agster throughout what looked like a terribly routine dance to me. Why does she laugh in that foolish fashion all the time - she looks as if she'd laugh if someone set her frock on fire.
Am I imagining things or was poor Sergei wearing the Mr Darren Bennett patented 'See what I got stuck with' look? http://www.theblueroom.me.uk/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif
I think, for pure comedy value, they should have let her 'dance' with her mate from the cleaning programme and got Sergei someone much more lissome! http://www.theblueroom.me.uk/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif

Tim Somebody and Victoria
Never heard of him in my life, don't care if I never see him again! Next!

Natalie and Andrei
This pair made such a deep impression on me I can't even remember their performance.

Steve Spearchucker and Susie
Was he the one who looked like a giant and thought he was Frank Sinatra? Boring from bell to bell! And smug!

Fred and Sarah
I have to say at this point that I've never liked her, not ever.
I like Fred though and thought he made a good job of dragging her around in a graceful fashion - well, he was graceful - she even had a struggle to step off the ice in a graceful manner after Fred had guided her over to gasp a few words out to Shouty Schofield. To my way of thinking, a golden opportunity to involve Gordon the Gopher in the post-skate interview was simply thrown away!

Chris Hollyoaks and Frankie
Hated the music, and although I concede that it was probably the most stirring performance so far, he reminds me of the horrible lads who used to zoom around our local ice-rink in a dangerously uncontrolled fashion, only stopping to spray little girlies like me with ice and bray with laughter like donkeys.

Samantha and Pavel
'Will you still love me tomorrow?' In a word, no.
I didn't even love you tonight.

GMTV Mike and Mel (or Maria as some like to call her)
Well, he made me laugh from the word 'go' - he's soooo endearing and has such amusing facial expressions he looks like a sort of skating silent comedy star - and he just made it for me when he seemed to come soooooo close to knocking the cameraman @rse over t*t at the end as he did his slide! A hoot!http://www.theblueroom.me.uk/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif

Page 3 Linda and Lickle Dan the Duckling.
I'm very fond of Dan and he did extremely well to choreograph the performance to fit the music and subtly 'carry' Linda through it - the music and the pretty pink frock helped too. She'll be all right - she has the Emmerdale vote. Had to have a little smile in the pre-skate part about her being 'rushed' to hospital with a flake avulsion fracture - it's hardly an emergency.

Gareth 'I came second' Gates and Maria (or was it Mel?)
Beautiful Day, eh? Well, he was hardly going to skate to a Will Young song! I've always thought he was a bit of a wuss, but he looked quite good to me and certainly seemed to be skating faster than most of the others, if that counts for anything. I thought Maria (Mel?) was terribly brave to let him lift her after all of the purlers he'd gone while practicing.

Now for (insert own dramatic music) - the results show - good heavens, who'd have thunk that people would have actually spent money on keeping Aggie (yes, I'm longing to christen her 'Scraggy Aggie', but am striving to resist the temptation) in the competition? Hmmmmm.

And it's goodbye Sarah Green - Oh dear, what a shame, never mind! I bet silly Nicky feels even more of a t*t about writing that 'spontaneous' poem now - and my hopes of seeing Gordon the Gopher again are dashed! :(
Ah well - -roll on next week, by which time I hope Nicky taken some time off from becoming the Poet Laureate of DOI and has bothered himself to learn the names of the professional skaters - and keeeeeep skating!' :D

Leah

Hehe Chris...brilliant, it was like watching it all over again!
Is it usual to compose odes to the competitors? I was quite thrown by that catfrustrated

Music for tomorrow night's shenanigans - some good, some tosh! I don't know who's got what, but I pity the poor fools who've drawn Leona Lewis yodelling on as they skate! 'Bleeding Love'? 'Bleeding Ears', more like!:angelic

Feeling Good - Michael Buble
Hard To Handle - Otis Redding
Hey There Delilah - Plain White T’s
Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic - The Police
Stand By Me - Ben E King
Dance The Night Away - The Mavericks
Wonderful Tonight - Eric Clapton
I Love To Love (But My Baby Loves To Dance) - Tina Charles
What’s Love Got To Do With It - Tina Turner
When You’re Gone - Avril Lavigne
I’m A Woman - Bette Midler
Bleeding Love - Leona Lewis

mimazali

mm, not much entertainment tonight!
The remix to shorten the Leona song was appalling, the sweat under Tim's armpits made me nearly bring up my supper... and the face on that girl who was given a six, for it to be simply taken away :(
Still think the same people will be in the final

Leah

Finding it hard to get into, couldn't even bring myself to watch Aggie today, and Tim Vincent is curiously repelling :catsick1:. I like Suzanne, think she is tough and is working hard....don't know whether she will end up being a 'favourite' though...this voting system is a huge turn off to me. :(

Direct from the Blue Room Dancing on Ice forum!

The first line refers to a poster who had compared Aggie clinging to Sergei to a Koala bear clinging to a tree! :D

" Now, now, Minihaha - Koala bears everywhere will be choking on their eucalpytus leaves in annoyance at being compared to the Agster!http://www.theblueroom.me.uk/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif

Before I get going, many thanks to all those who were kind enough to tell me they enjoyed my amateur efforts last week! You're all http://www.theblueroom.me.uk/forum/smileys/smiley11.gifs.

I must be getting used to this now because I recognised Torville and Dean right off and without my glasses - kidding - I've loved them since 'Barnum and Bailey' days!

Here come Shouty and Holly Waxwork who tonight is giving us her version of Morticia Adams (lite) - and - off we gooooooooo ....

Ex-Page3 Linda & dear little Duckling Dan.
Well, she certainly isn't the greatest, but I like her - she's a fine-looking woman for her age and she and Dan seem to get along well - as always, he enhances her performance in good and subtle ways and the whole is aesthetically pleasing. Good old Nicky, true to form, making a t*t of himself as per by pressing the wrong button!

The Hollyoaks bloke & Frankie.
Well, I'm sorry but I still can't see anything good in him - although he did make me laugh when he was moaning on about having to 'learn his lines' for Hollyoaks - I mean, c'mon - it ain't exactly Shakespeare, dahling! Can't feel any warmth or 'connection' between them - sorry! http://www.theblueroom.me.uk/forum/smileys/smiley6.gif

Natalie & Andrei.
I like him, I'm not struck on her - I can't remember their routine apart from him lifting her up with one hand and being struck by the grimace of terror on her face! Next!!!

The Faux-Great British Tennis Hope(c2001)& Kristina-of-the-lovely-hair.
I always think it's a sign of desperation when some ankle-biter is brought in to lisp on about how wonderful a competing parent is - and I wasn't mistaken. My favourite lady skater (Kristina) had to work like a slave to get 'Mr Personality' around the ice - and he still looked like Herman Munster. The dance instruction proved that he can't even move rhythmically on dry land - quite frankly, Greg, if you're ever in a position of having to choose between being shot or dancing for your life, just ask for the blindfold and the last fag!

The Agster & poor-little-Sergei
I've seen that flamingo frock before - I'm sure they threw it on Tamara Beckwith in the first series - the difference was, she looked all right in it. It was APPALLING - just as if they'd been at a wedding and Sergei's mother had said to him, "Oh go on,любимая (darling) your Nana's (Babushka's ?) had a few vodkas - get her up to dance, just drag her round a bit and she'll be happy!"
Who's voting for her? I imagine an army of housework obsessed, middle-aged women, pulling on their Marigolds and giving the phone a quick disinfect before dialling in for her! Gaaaaaarrrrggggghhhhh!!!!

Android Tim & Victoria
I'm sure she's a very nice girl, but when she's with him, she's like a Stepford wife. I don't know what the judges were watching, I thought they were boooooring from bell to bell. Next!!

Suzanne out of Hear'Say & Matt
Well, I'm sure that Matt will be delighted to hear that I have chosen My Skating Beloved, and it's him!!!
They looked like a pair of gazelles who'd wandered into a herd of wildebeeste after what had gone before - just loved them and could have watched them for much, much longer! http://www.theblueroom.me.uk/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif

Spearchucker Steve & Susie
I honestly thought the telly had gone wrong and got up to give it a couple of sharp smacks to encourage it to return to normal - but - it didn't help - I've never seen anyone skate as slowly as him in my life - I'm surprised the ice didn't melt in the time it took him to trail around it at snail's pace.

Samantha & Pavel
For me, she suffers from raising my expectations by having a very slight resemblance to my beloved Princess Alesha (from a distance and after three G&T's) - but I wish whoever is doing makeup would, for the love of Max Factor, put some brighter lipstick on her. She looks like a corpse, and tends to hang in Pavel's arms like one too!

Gareth Skates (I came second) & Maria
I like him and she's just full of fun - they skate quickly (which I like), dance a bit and appear to be having a good time. My third faves of the night!

Michael Chaplin & Mel
I looooove Michael - he's a scream - if someone had asked Norman Wisdom (in his prime, bless him) to do the braces stunt, he would have thought about it and said, "No, it's impossible!" - but Michael managed it with no rehearsal! http://www.theblueroom.me.uk/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif
I was soooo proud of him when he kept going and kept his feet - I know, I know - he's not the best skater, but he's just so endearing and sweet - my second fave - if I was going to actually vote for anyone, which I'm not, as I still don't trust ITV, I'd vote for him!

Okay, then I went off to watch Barcelona and recorded the results show to watch later - what a shock!! I was convinced that no-one in their right mind would vote for the Agster, Greg Tennis or Mr Slow - just shows what I know, eh - goodbye, Andrei, you Russian beauty! :(

And there's even worse news - bl**dy Westlife are going to be on the show next week - those blighters haunt me!:angry

Leah
21-01-2008, 08:54 AM
I like Matt too, sharesies?
I honestly had to leave the room when Aggie came on, I was so afraid of hearing the crack of a hip breaking :(
It's going to be awfully dull if GBP keep voting to keep theses sorry b*ggers in and letting the real competition go. Don't know how many weeks I could bear to see spearchucker crawl around the ice. Also astonished by the complete lack of warmth or chemistry from most of them. I didn't see the beginning of Strictly, but was that the same, the partnerships all seemed a lot more genuine on that show?

mimazali
21-01-2008, 01:31 PM
I kind of got the impression she wants to go.. she was in so much pain!

Lucia
24-01-2008, 02:09 PM
Oh, noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!
Just read on the DOI forum that poor Michael has broken his ankle in training and has had to pull out of the show - what a miss he'll be for me! :(

If it wasn't for Prince Matt, I'd give the show up - it's going to be a bit of a b*gger to watch it this week as Barcelona kick off at 6pm (and I can't miss them) - and I keep missing 'Kingdom' because of either Barcelona or being on the DOI forum! :(
What a shallow existence I have! :catwink:

mimazali

So Sam is out, and after such a good job of giving her partner a Brazilian...

I am glad Greg is not 007, I would not want him trying to rescue me, unless of course I was in a tennis match and loosing

Lucia
28-01-2008, 01:03 AM
From the Blue - where everyone is gobsmacked at the results! :(

'Well, I’m not kidding - I nearly switched the recording off and reached for the gin bottle when I saw those dratted Irish blighters miming to the best of their ability to an awful song which even seemed to perplex the Blessed Jane and Chris at times. And they were standing in a row. On ice. Wouldn’t you think Chris could have done a knee-slide into the first one and knocked the whole shoot of them over like skittles as a finale to the routine. Ah well, maybe next time - they’re sure to be back - the only bookings they seem to get nowadays are on SCD or DOI.

Up, up and away with Ms Waxwork and Mr Shouty - the show clearly began too early for Holly who was still in her nightdress to which she’d added a strange silver corset in the hope of passing it off as a gown. Someone should tell that eejit Tess Wotsit that she has strong competition in the worst-dressed ‘presenting clone’ of the year competition.
The hubba, (who is still hopeful that Lilia Kopylova might turn up on DOI one day), remarked that ‘her dumplings appear to be boiling over’.

Gareth (Dimples) Skates and Maria
Well, he tries and he’s cute and he skates quite quickly and seems impervious to black looks from Maria in training - what’s not to like?

Linda Luciousardi and Dear Duckling Dan.
First a little fashion tip - don’t let them put your hair up ever again, dear - it made you look years older - and a little skating tip, strictly entre nous - people are starting to notice than Dan just wheels you around the ice like a shopping-trolley.

Samantha and Pav
That’s a horrible shade of yellow - I suppose it served to brighten up a very dull routine - I don’t know what it is - she seems like a nice girl and he’s pleasant, but they do nothing for me at all. Next!

Hollyoaks Chris and Frankie
I just can’t warm to this blighter - I thought it was one of Westlife slinking back on for another moment of glory - I’m sure they’re very good, but I’d just as soon watch paint dry.

Agony Aggie and Poor Pavel
A-tro-cious. No, strike that - it was a-palling. Once the routine was mercifully over and they got off the ice and were being interrogated by La Waxwork and Shouty, I could clearly hear someone crying in the background. I think it was probably Bonnie Tyler.

Spearchucker Batley and Susie
Well, in their practice they skated to ‘Born to be Wild’ (which would have to be rewritten as ‘Born to be Mild’ for him) then on the show, they skated - very, very slowly - to ‘Moany Moany’ - which is what I did all the way through their routine - when I wasn’t laughing!

Lurch and Kristina
And the laughs continue unabated. In the immortal words of that great 20th century philosopher, Jim Royle’ - ‘Licence to Kill’, my @rse - ‘Licence to cause apoplexy from over-exuberant laughter in the viewing public’ more like.
For once Jason the Scarf is right - I’ve met amoebas with more personality than Greg - thankfully, Kristina of the lovely hair has personality in abundance - and assertiveness too - I noted that he didn’t do that scary lift they were practising.

Is that FRED!!! Yes, but who’s that with him - and why does she spell her name with a million ’aaaa’s? Oh, never mind, I like Fred and she seems a jolly little thing.

Stardate January 27th, 2008 - and it’s Yeoman Tim and (gasp) Mrs Lovett from ‘Sweeney Todd’!!!!
Last week I though Victoria was a bit robotic - this week I realised she’s probably okay but really up against it trying to make this dull bloke look interesting. Even with a good tune.

My Skating Beloved and Suzanne Hear’say
Ahhhh - they saved the best until last and Suzanne was sweet enough to continue the ‘slumber-party’ theme and turn up in her nightie to match La Waxwork. Sadly, she seemed to have missed out on the attentions of the hairdresser (too busy creating Mrs Lovett’s coiffure possibly) so just scragged her hair up herself - not a good look - don’t do it again, dear.
Okay, she had a lickle trip - but she carried right on skating and to me they were still head and shoulders above everyone else.

The results - another triumph for the Marigold gloves brigade - I can't believe the GBP sometimes - it passeth all understanding, it really doeth! ;)

Leah
28-01-2008, 08:50 AM
Watched Aggie peeping through my fingers again, He appeared to have her knotted around his neck like a scarf as he skated around the ice. Awful! [wasn't there a ventriloquist who had a fabric monkey draped around his neck once?]
Mmmmmmatt is still looking very good, but think Suzanne slipped on a blob of fake tan....too orange!

Who was out? I watched up untill Aggie came on and couldn't look at it after the sound of her head hitting the ice again in the preview....not what I call entertainment :( Thought Suzanne and Matt were lovely :dust:

Well, as relieved as I am to hear that Aggie's gone, I'm afraid I gave up on it this week - it's never gripped me like SCD does and now that it's on Sundays and often clashes with a Barcelona match, I just haven't got the time to record it and watch it later! :(
The one bit I did catch (at half-time in Barca -v -Ossosuna) featured the Hollyoaks boy and Frankie doing a truly excellent 'Timewarp' routine - and the fool Aggie staggering around to 'I feel pretty' - an irony worthy of Thomas Hardy which made me laugh so hysterically it brought back my palpitations and made the hubba switch channels in a marked manner and mutter darkly about 'being too free with myself'! :D

I forgot to watch it, but watched the skate off...poor Aggie :(

The results - another triumph for the Marigold gloves brigade - I can't believe the GBP sometimes - it passeth all understanding, it really doeth! ;)

You have given me the best laugh I have had for ages, and I don't watch the damm thing LOL
