bbc radio4 food awards!

local speciality shop got into the finals of last four for annual bc radio4 food awards! first time belpers been mentioned - its a small shop called fresh basils and it sells all deifferent deli items inc salamis cheeses freah breads and deli items and also a coffee shop and menu thats marvellous when people meet up in this tiny town centre! they are well pleased and proud and do deserve this award "almost-win" anyway! ps a fishmonger speciality shop somewhere got the first prize, but being inc. in the final four from all over the uk isnt to be sniffed at is it?

it IS ! it was the post offices bike shed I believe? it now sells things like - special cheeses, game pies, soda breads, creamcakes to die for, all sorts of deli items, sweetmeats and gingerbread men, and olives and chopping boards, and oatcakes (a derbyshire and staffordshire breakfast speciality - tastes like a large pancake with oat lavour added - best eated not and served with either bacon and cheese or try grilled cheese and red onions inside and rolled up...its super!) they also do veggie dishes inc haggis...have to have a long list for christmas...and they hang woven baskets and old bikes outside and their coffee and snasks are smashing...so visit belper sometime for the day if in derbyshire, theres also some retail dress outlets and designer wear shops these days...

Sounds fab Babs! I love shops like that... can't be chewed with Tescos and all these huge mega stores which are taking over... hate them! :(
