I just posted this in my 'Strictly' forum, so I thought I'd post it here too! I'm 'Aida' over there and the hubba is 'Radames' - I know - I'm crackers.
'How great to be once again sat by the telly at kick-off time, glass of G&T in hand, Chinese meal ordered, a Siamese cat asleep on my lap, a Siamese kitten and the Princess Mog mithering the hubba - I was in such a good mood, I actually sang along with the theme song and laughed dutifully at Methusaleh Forsythe’s jokes.
Okay - first out of the box - Flavia and some cocksure blighter from Eastenders - I only ever watch Emmerdale, so haven’t a clue who he is - hmmm - straight into the Men’s 1st week Cha Cha - otherwise known as ungainly, embarrassed-looking bloke twirling what looks like a gaily-coloured stick. I suppose he’ll be in it for weeks due to the dedicated EE vote.
The Murderer from Coro and Karen the Kornball Kid next with a Waltz – well, I’m no expert but I didn’t see a lot of waltzing - and where *did* she get that awful frock? From the same place as the over the top choreography and those maddening facial expressions no doubt - I love that tune too, now I’ll have horrible memories of it - or maybe not - we’ll see!
Lilia and an escapee from the Orc Army in Lord of the Rings - this caused the first real upset of the night in our house - the hubba is LIVID that his beloved Lilia has been stiffed with this annoyingly chirpy little goblin - he went off on a rant and threw a cushion at the telly, startling the kitten and causing the Princess Mog to hiss like a pit of snakes!
I didn’t like it much, but then, I don’t like the Cha Cha.
Erin and a bald bloke
My turn to throw a cushion at the telly - poor Erin - hasn’t she suffered enough punishment for the Muppet Dance yet? She’s certainly got her work cut out trying to make a silk purse out of this one - doomed to lose again, methinks!
Blue Peter person and the Original gaily-decorated twig, Camilla
Hmmm - he’s terribly ‘wholesome’, isn’t he? Never mind, as per, she worked hard, whizzing around him, but you could practically see the despair in her eyes.
A big Rugger B*gger and the Werewolf’s Wife
Boring from whistle to whistle - he was so lifeless that for a second or so, I thought the lovely Ola was replicating the Muppet Dance , but that might have been the gin -wherever did they get the men for this series - a Stuffed Shirt Shop?
Barnsey and the least attractive of the Cutlers
Well, this was ruined for me before it started by the hubba laughing like the proverbial drain, loudly singing ‘Who ate all the pies’ and suggesting that next week they should dance to ’Roll out the barrel’ - wardrobe certainly did him no favours and showed a cynical sense of humour by dressing him in that horrid shade of yellow - never mind, he certainly almost bust a gut trying and he was my fave this week - but I didn’t vote - I’m saving all my votes for next week after seeing my inamorato, Ian, and the dashing Werewolf - mmmmrrrroooowwwlllll - in the girls’ group dance, which looked very good, as did the girls, even the matriarch *Thephanie and wuvly lickle Vinthent - mind you, amici, wardrobe also seemed to be having a laugh with the dress they managed to force that blonde bint from East Enders into (probably at gunpoint) - many giggles ahead next week, I believe!'
*Writing with a 'lithp' is just a sort of running joke on the dance forum because Vincent has a lisp - we (mostly) all love the dear little Italian Thtalion.
PS: I know the spoilers - anyone want to know who was the first to be voted off? ;)
OMG Lucia that is one of the funniest things i have ever read!!! You are so insightful...hahaha although last night i seemed drawn towards the hobbit escapee ... however im thinking the over egged lahndan accent will get on my wick after week 3... but i think he'll win cos the cheeky chappie always does...
ps was it me or was Stephanie a complete bitch to Kelly Brook... (her comment about flashing once a day) urmmm it's a dance contest you wisened old hag ... ?! If you can't stand the pace get off the shiny floor ??

Lucia, if you had to pick a male favourite which would it be?
I thought Dean from EE was quite good..
Cheeky london chappie surprised me....
Blue Peter boy was dissapointing...
Rugby Bloke was as theatrical as a piece of plywood...
Murderer from Corrie was okay although I agree about Karen's outfit... she looked dreadful in it!
Willie snoooker player.. what ever is going to happen if they go through and have to do latin?
Dean for me!

I don't know, Anna - they're a motley crew and their looks don't appeal to me at all.
As for the dancing, they all looked pretty dire to my amateur eyes - especially after the brief glimpse we got of this years ladies who all (apart from Stephanie and the shocker in the pink frock) look stunning as well as nice and bendy and able to put on a show.
I absolutely love the professional dancer Ian Waite, so I normally root for him no matter who he's dancing with - I still think he was robbed the year he partnered Zoe Ball - I also like James (the Werewolf) and want to 'mother' lickle Vinthent, so they tend to be my 'eye-candy' for the series! :D

 "Shocker in the pink frock" Did you see when Darren picked her up in the dance.. I feared for his life
I dont like James.. I recall him being a complete bully last year and am not sure about Gabby Logan....
I DO love Ian Waite, he so good looking and polite to his partners, patient and kind..
Im going to have to go and watch it again now!! :toot:
I may just look for some dancing smilies first though!! :woho:

Ian is my second favourite (he and zoe were robbed!) but anton has to be my fav. he is ALWAYS in a shirt and tie, even in practice, such a gentleman!
I can't stand rubber-face karen, gropy brendan (or kelly brook for that matter). James was a bully last year, and he looks at bit like jim carey's joker at the moment with his hair

Hurrah! Grimacing Hardy went out (along with unknown bloke in pinstripe suit (don't watch soaps except Holby City)). How great to have extra 3/4 hour of Strictly on a Sunday too.
Love opportunity to criticise vile costumes and to see whether the 'right' couple goes out each week - we both sound so like experts as we give our official critique each time. This is the only knockout style programme we watch and look forward to it every year.
My Dad couldn't understand why we insisted on 'booking' the TV at their house last year at Christmas as couldn't bear to miss final but bet he watches the whole thing this time round .....
I've never watched this but i'm intrigued now, going to give it a whirl.!

Week 2
Yes, I've been on my dancing forum again, and here's my take on this week's show! I know who goes home tomorrow, so if anyone actually wants to know the result, PM me! ;)
" Thephanie and Vinthent - Well, I like the old diva, she looked the part, seemed to be enjoying herself and resisted the temptation to tuck Vinthent under her arm and carry him over to the judges table to hear the comments. I howled with laughter at the way she dealt with the judges' comments.
Letitia and Darren - Poor little Mr Bennett, try as he might he can't quite get his 'I'm so happy to be dancing with you smile' right - much like his wife and her 'delight' in being stiffed with Dom the Gay Goblin. I'd love to be a fly on the wall in their house and listen to their conspiracy theories re: the SCD producers.
Could someone explain this to me - when the Blonde Bint from EE is rehearsing, she looks okay and reasonably attractive - but when wardrobe and makeup allegedly 'glam' her up for the show, she looks like Miss Piggy!!!
A lumbering rhumba - awful from whistle to whistle and not helped by Darren's smile which is rapidly becoming a rictus of despair.
Kate and Anton - shocking! I don't totally believe the 'injury' story - she might well have had slight tendonitis, but I think it was hyped up a lot once the SCD powers-that-be realised they'd landed themselves another no-hoper from GMTV. The dance looked jerky, despite Anton's best efforts, and the music didn't help - it was ghastly!
As many of my associates here know, I like the old Berk - but someone in power doesn't - when's he going to get a decent partner???
Alesha and Matt - well, I like Matt very much and these two certainly looked the part - I also love the rhumba and thought that Craig phrased it very well when he said something like 'it was very sensual but not lascivious' - that's how it should be, shouldn't it? I was a bit worried Alesha wouldn't get through it without bursting into those irritating giggles, but she surprised me.
My best dance of the night
Penny and Ian - I love Ian, I like the quickstep, I quite liked their dance but I felt a bit disappointed - I think I was hoping for too much, a sort of repeat performance of how marvellous Ian was with Zoe and it just didn't happen for me. She has a faint whiff of wholesomeness which isn't going to help their Latin.
Kelly and Brendan - well, there's nothing wholesome about Brendan, she gets on my nerves and I thought I wasn't going to like this rhumba at all - but I did - for once he showed remarkable restraint in his choreography and the dance was the better for it.
Gabby and the Werewolf - I'm very fond of him, but, call me hard to please, I liked him better in mean and moody mode. I also like Gabby - but - somehow it just 'missed' for me, I wanted it to be better.
Well, so far a poor night for laughs, but hold - what light through yonder window breaks?
No, it's not 'Juliet' - it's the men's group dance - the Meringue - what a total hoot!
I've never seen anything quite so lousy since I was press-ganged into attending my nephew's school production of 'Grease' and discovered quite early in the proceedings that every child who wanted to be in it, was in it as part of a chorus which shambled clumsily around in the background while the kids who were teacher's favourites yelled/screeched(every one of them off-key) centre stage.
I lasted until the first interval, made my excuses and left before suppressed laughter saw me off, but I'm still convinced the experience took years off my life - thankfully tonight's abortion was mercifully short, but - the Gay Goblin and old Chrome Dome must go - as soon as possible! "

I quite liked penny and anton's dance, my dislike for kelly and brendan has mutliplied - they make my skin crawl! And the more i see of anton the more i do love him! Why oh why can't he have a decent partner for a chenge, i do hope they've not been voted off yet?!
I agree about letitia, she looked like a big block, that dress was awful on her!

Ive seen who has been booted off.. not sure I really care to be honest although all teh forums seem incensed that Kate is still here..
They keep saying she had the sympathy vote, I must say I voted for her 5 times
It wasnt fair that they were so mean, she was a trooper for coming out and giving it a go when she had FAR less training than anyone else there last night!

You blighters!!! It's supposed to be a dance competition, for Bast's sake - not a 'Who-do-I-feel-the-sorriest-for?'
To think that, thanks to you, my two votes counted for naught and meant I'd just hurled 50p away - well - I'm afraid I might have to report the pair of you on the dancing forum! ::wink:

 Its not just that I felt sorry for her, its more that she deserves another go... I thought they were unduly mean to her considering the situation and to just expect her to be voted off because she hadnt had as much practice etc wasnt fair...
If thats the case, they shouldve have perhaps asked her to pull out and dance next year, then the vote would have been fair..
Will send you 50p Lucia! :p

I hope you didn't vote for Letitia Lucia!
I really hope she doesn't last long, but of course people will vote for her just because she is in Eastenders and not at her (baby elephant) attempts to dance and her dreadful outfits! :catcheshire:
Lucia
15-10-2007, 12:06 AM
Laughing - of course I didn't vote for her - I spent my squid voting for Ian and the current Mrs Rod Stewart twice and Vinthent and Thephanie twice - but the awful spectre of that useless Chris Can't-remember-his-other-name from Eastenders who couldn't dance a step and went as far as the final has just risen before my eyes - I think we could be stuck with the gurning lumberer for weeks and weeks - not least (I'm not accusing the Beeb of vote-rigging or influencing the judges) because the eejit is apparently part of the forthcoming SCD tour!
The hapless Kate will probably go next week because they'll be doing Latin - it's a jive, I think - and while I love Anton's beautiful ballroom style, Latin's not really his forte! :D
Anyway, wasn't Thephanie terrific and funny in the results show - I'm just gutted that we won't see as much of Vinthent from now on! :D

I voted for Kate and Gabby but I do think that Penny has got a good chance of winning.

Watched ITT last night (with my fingers poised on the remote to instantly switch off if that blasted 'Westlife' were on) - Thephanie and Vinthent were wonderful - she's so funny - and very gracious in defeat.
Leaden Letitia was on too - with Desperate Darren - I know I'm being a spiteful cow, but I kept expecting her to call him 'Kermit'! :D
Gaarrgggggh - Westlife are on tonight - and I really wanted to watch Matthew and Alesha! :(

Good thing we have it programmed into Sky Plus then - will be able to skip the horrendous Westlife. Stephanie and Vincent really didn't deserve to go (sigh).

I was all prepared not to like her, nobody that beautiful should have a sparkling personality as well - but she seems very genuine in her love of dance and she looked fabulous in her rhumba last Saturday - I think she was the only female celeb who kept on moving throughout the dance - according to the dance gurus on my other forum, that's what you're supposed to do - anyway, I'm very fond of Matthew Cutler and hope they'll go far in this series! :D

I cant wait to see her jive!
